Since starting 12 years ago, we’ve continually launched cool features and system updates, some of which are announced publicly, while the others are just part of the service. Now, as the hire season starts to slow down from the dizzying heights of midsummer madness, we’ve got a recap of just some of the new things we’ve launched so far this year.
👨🔧BCN System Enhancements
We’ve expanded the BCN system a lot since our early days, and as technology has moved on, we’ve naturally had to move with the times. What you might not know is that the complete BCN system has been rebuilt from the ground-up in the very latest tech over the last 12 months, which has laid the groundwork for our future development schedule – and this schedule has now gone into full swing.
🧞♀️ Revamped BCN Hire Directory
Our national hire directory was created in 2010 and since then has steadily fed over 10,000 leads to BCN customers. Earlier this year, after several months’ work, we launched a massive revamp that featured some amazing SEO-friendly code, and detailed listings for each BCN hirer.
A site visitor can now check availability through our directory and see exactly what products are available in their area. They can also filter using different parameters, i.e they can find out who has a princess castle in their delivery area, and can check that the item is available, suitable for their event, and tested. The prospective customer can then book the item straight from the directory!
The revamped directory was super-duper-mega user-friendly, however, it managed to outrank some of our customers’ websites, and as such we disabled large parts of the content library to put the genie back in the bottle. This experience showed us our new coding methods are superb as far as Google is concerned, so much of this has been recycled so it can resurface during future system updates on operators’ websites.
💁♂️ BCN Promo Shop
As we have worked in the design, print and marketing industry for many years prior to BCN’s inception, our design team has a vast amount of experience in creating the brands and graphics you are all familiar with. Following disappointing results from third party suppliers, we decided to invest in our own 100% cost-based print and promo department – EXCLUSIVELY for BCN customers!
To create a portfolio of products that are useful for BCN customers, we sourced the best quality products at rock bottom prices and made these available - with artwork included - free of charge. This has been a hugely popular service that has since extended to an embroidery department that brings you value-for-money products, with excellent quality design work included in all our prices - offered to you AT COST PRICE!
📆 Facebook App
We all have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. It can provide a huge amount of leads, but can also bring you a huge amount of timewasters wanting to haggle down the price of a hire. This year, we set about finding a way to funnel those enquiries towards your website products without forcing people to leave the Facebook platform. After some intense development work, we launched our Facebook App integration module, which allows visitors to your Facebook business page to check availability and book online within the Facebook environment. This has resulted in a growing number of bookings now being processed via the Facebook App system.
🔐 GDPR Compliance
GDPR was the 2018 version of Y2K as far as data orientated businesses were concerned. In this case, the world’s computers weren’t going to shut down, but your company data had to be secured and hidden through a whole host of security and data protection protocols or you would be facing very heavy fines.
Team BCN worked tirelessly to make sure that not only your data but also our own systems were locked down to comply with the strictest GDPR requirements. We attended seminars, worked closely with the ICO and pulled out all the stops to make sure we got it right for the 2500+ customers we cater for. We even helped you to craft your privacy policy, giving you step-by-step instructions on how to navigate through the process to make your business GDPR-compliant.
🎨 No Set Up Fee - Themed websites
Our latest revelation has come in the form of ‘themed websites’, where you can choose from 16 set designs for your new or second/third/fourth websites and get a new site without any set up fees!
BCN are well known for our stunning designs but creating 40+ customised designs every month meant that we were falling behind in our development schedule. To resolve this, we decided to offer a no-set-up-fee service that would save our customers some money, free up our time to crack on with platform updates that would make improvements to the core booking system; and expand on the BCN suite of tools.
